The four day break !

After a long time, the family got a lucky four day break from school/ office, thanks to the extended weekend and more than anybody else it was me who was most excited about it  . Four days of bliss ! No early mornings, no rush hours, no planning lunch boxes and no deadlines to follow and no glancing at the clock every half an hour .Why, I could even stay awake and read till late in the night without any guilt weighing on my mind of having to get up early the next morning.
So, the days went off quite well. I made some rare and elaborate dishes for breakfast since I wasn't hard pressed for time and then after a nice long shower ( which is quite a luxury for me ) went out shopping. When the husband is there to babysit what's the point in staying home on holidays ? I happened to step into 'Crossword' to pick up a book for myself when I suddenly realized ( among the hustle-bustle) there was a sale going on next door. Since Crossword and Home Stop are interconnected, there was no way I could have missed it . Took the book and hurried on to catch a glimpse of the mega sale and pinched myself several times as I got to know the throw away prices the home linen and accessories were being dispensed off for. I am usually very unfortunate with these sale events because I am usually very ill informed and come to know about them only once they get over but this was that one moment that I landed myself at the right place at the right time and then I remembered that the husband had visited the store just a day back for some other work and had (very smartly) remembered not to mention anything about the sale to me. Hmmm ! I practiced a few punches in the air that would hopefully meet it's rightful target once I got back home ! Or maybe I could extend the baby sitting session by a few dreadfully long hours and take off to the spa as well . I thought I'll see-saw between the two options till I finished my shopping. It'll make me less guilty when I see the final bill.

Okay, so I did pick up a few things that were unbelievably- reasonably priced and the best pick was the set of curtains and cushion covers. I can never have enough of them so I went berserk.
My favourite pick was a set of sheers with pink circles , like a sun burst and I grabbed it without wasting time. Things were disappearing at the blink of an eyelid . The intimidating presence of some people there going rabid and plundering the store made me pull up my socks to match their speed . Phew ! At the end, it was exhausting but quite satisfying .
Other than my adventurous shopping spree, it was a fun filled , relaxed break . Picked up a book that I wanted to read for a long time  'The Oleander Girl' by Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni and surprisingly finished it in one day. I can't recall the last time I turned into a social moron and finished a book uninterrupted , scowling at whoever dared to pipe in .

Take a look at my pink curtains . As a result of this purchase, my living room is sporting a pink look these days. My hapless family and friends are being inflicted with all things pink by me, all their protests notwithstanding. Even my daughter dislikes pink. Sigh ! And yes, I even got some pink Lilies to go with it :)

And of course, my favourite corner where I love to spend my leisurely hours especially during holidays, when the kids are busy doing their own thing and the husband is nose deep in his reams of newspaper !

So, as all good things come to an end, so do holidays. It's back to the grind and early mornings. I am a late riser and getting up early involves a great deal of sacrifice so I'm really looking forward to the weekend now :D
Leaving you with some happy thoughts as I think about the next break that comes my way , not going to be soon though ;) Till we meet again !
